Missing teeth across the entire dental arch can have a negative impact on the way one’s smile looks and functions. It can keep patients from eating their favourite foods, speaking clearly, or showing off their smile. When patients come to The Dental Implant Clinic in Surrey and are seeking complete dentures, our team can help!
Complete dentures span the entire arch. Some patients may need dentures on the upper arch, the lower arch, or both. Replacing missing teeth should be done for better health and wellness, as well as functionality and aesthetics. Complete dentures are made with acrylic teeth and gums. They are held in place with natural suction, dental adhesives, or even snap into place over dental implants. Our dentists will determine which method of adhesion is best for a patient, especially if they have already tried other methods that have proven unsuccessful.
At The Dental Implant Clinic, we start fabricating complete dentures by taking a series of impressions, including external impressions to ensure there is enough room in the mouth for movements of the smile, including the muscles and soft tissues. This creates a more precise fit. Additionally, dentures constructed in this manner often require less adhesives and stay in place better than traditionally-made prosthetics.
Once impressions have been made, they are sent to a dental laboratory. The dentist will send off the impressions with specific instructions regarding size, colour, and shape to ensure they look completely natural for the patient. Within approximately a week or two, the new complete dentures come back to our practice and patients come in for the final adjustments. Adjustments are made easily since our complete dentures are made with a Coble Balancer, which makes it simple to achieve fine-tuned changes.
