Mini Dental Implant Demonstration

Hello and welcome to the denture clinic, my name is Justin Stewart and I'm the owner of the denture clinic.

I just want to spend a couple of minutes explaining to you about mini dental implants. In front of me I've got a model of a patient who doesn't have any of their natural lower teeth, so from a dentist's perspective they would require a full lower denture.

With mini implants, these really take the place of roots of natural teeth so the problem with a complete denture is there is nothing for the denture to hold on to. For a lot of people, their lower jaw bone has resolved and it's difficult for the dentures to stay in place, and they tend to be loose and they tend to float.

So by putting in four of these mini implants, that makes a huge difference in terms of holding the denture in place. So if I just put the denture in, you can just see here that there are four housings that are placed inside of the denture which clip on top of the mini implants.

In terms of the fit of the denture, it really is a night and day experience so we would say to the patient the improvement in fit really is 100%.

The other thing to say about mini implants is most dentists tend to place conventional dental implants, which are four times the size of mini implants, and with that there is an associated price tag so we find compared to a traditional dentist the mini implants are roughly a quarter of the price.

The key thing is for denture patients is they are perfect because they do the job - they hold the denture in place and particularly if you don't have much lower jaw bone you can put these in whereas maybe a conventional denture wouldn't work.

"I ended up having 4 implants – I'm very happy with them –I can eat normally, I can talk happily, whereas they used to move around at the bottom denture, so I'm very, very pleased with the result. I found the consultation excellent, Justin was very good – he tried with the old denture that I'd got and decided it was necessary to have a new one. We talked about it quite a lot before he decided the only way with me was to have the implants.

I would recommend others to the Denture Clinic and I've already done so – one lady in particular, we were having a Tuesday lunch and she was fed up with denture keep moving and I told her the place to come to was here and she was happy with the results.

I talk to people and they are very surprised that I have two dentures, top and bottom, and how good they look – they just wouldn't know that I had dentures."
