The casts of your mouth from the final impressions are placed in this articulator, which reproduces the way in which your jaws move over each other.

We build up our impressions in tiny layers which means all the oral and facial muscles and individual contours of your mouth show up in them (unlike the traditional method). We also use what is known as an External Impression technique. This is an impression of the outside of the denture, not the gum surface. We take an impression of the tongue side of the dentures and the cheek aspect, which allows the dentures to feel a part of the mouth. This makes the final fit of the denture much more accurate and means that you have far less denture movement during eating and speaking. The other benefit to you is that you will be able to use much less fixative or none at all.

We gently increase the height of this screw until we have achieved the correct height for the new dentures.

If you wear dentures you may have found that your face has collapsed and your lips and cheeks are not properly built out. We use a device, which allows us to adjust the height of your dentures in tiny increments to achieve the best aesthetic result for you. The final outcome is that your face gets built up fully again.

We ask you to slide your lower jaw backwards and forwards and side to side which produces this arrowhead. This determines the position the teeth need to be set to.

Unlike most other dentists, we use special equipment (called an intra-oral gothic arch tracing and a facebow record) to align your dentures 100% to your jaw joint. We then trial them on an articulator outside your mouth to ensure the bite is totally correct. This allows the teeth to slide over each other correctly which greatly improves your chewing of food and means your dentures move a lot less. Using a further technique called the Neutral Zone Impression allows the dentist to see where the lower teeth should be placed. This is vitally important as the lower dentures will move if the teeth are too close to the tongue or cheeks, this technique prevents this from happening.

Precision Adjustments

We have a special system called a Coble Balancer which is used for making fine adjustments without compromising the look or fit of the dentures. This is done inside the patient's mouth using special equipment and gives a much more accurate result. This device allows us to ensure the teeth come together at the same time, which helps to keep the dentures stable and aids chewing. We automatically book further adjustment appointments until they are not needed. This avoids any possible embarrassment of a patient having to ring up for further adjustments.

Much Improved Appearance

We use teeth which are made up of several gradations of colour in order to give a much more natural appearance than typical denture teeth. We can mimic your natural pre-denture appearance by setting up the teeth at slight angles to each other if you do not want the symmetrical appearance associated with dentures. By placing the teeth where they should be naturally your face also gets built up again (like a non-surgical facelift) reversing the collapsed facial support often seen with dentures. We spend considerable time with patients moving the teeth in wax until both we and the patient are perfectly happy with the appearance. The benefit to you is that you can smile with confidence again.
